PEARSON BTEC SPORT COURSES

Crawley Town Foundation Academy host Pearson BTEC Sport courses, English and Maths GCSE re-take courses, and Functional Skills courses on-site at The Broadfield Stadium in Crawley.

All courses are run in partnership with The Holy Trinity Sixth

Form in Crawley and are taught by full-time qualified

tutors.

​

The Foundation staff have extensive experience in teaching, coaching, playing & participating in the game, making them well-equipped to support students in their BTEC journey. Their teaching expertise allows them to break down complex topics effectively, while their coaching background adds practical insights and teamwork skills. Their personal experience in the game enhances their instruction, offering real-world applications. By combining these skills, the staff provides a comprehensive and engaging approach to BTEC education that empowers students both academically and personally.

BTEC NATIONAL LEVEL 3 FOUNDATION DIPLOMA IN SPORT

Equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Grade 4 or above in GCSE English & Maths  / Pearson BTEC Level 2 in Sport, Merit or above

1st year of the two-year Extended Diploma, or a stand-alone 1-year qualification

Closed-book exam, taught throughout the year

Unit 2: Fitness Training & Programming:

Open-book exam, taught throughout the year

Unit 3: Professional Development in Sport:

Two assignments, taught in the middle third of the year

Unit 4: Sports Leadership:

Two assignments, taught in the final third of the year

Unit 5: Application of Fitness Testing:

Two assignments, taught in the first third of the year

Unit 6: Sports Psychology:

Three assignments, taught in the middle third of the year

Unit 7: Practical Sports Performance:

Two assignments, taught in the first third of the year

Unit 8: Coaching for Performance:

Three assignments, taught in the final third of the year

GCSE ENGLISH & MATHS RE-TAKES

TAUGHT AT HOLY TRINITY SIXTH FORM

Students who achieve a Grade 3 in their English and/or Maths GCSEs are required by law to continue studying GCSE Maths and/or English until they achieve a Grade 4 or above.

​

GCSE re-take classes are taught at Holy Trinity Sixth Form by the school's English & Maths teachers, and all exams are hosted at the school.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS ENGLISH & MATHS

Taught at Crawley Town FC

Students who achieve a Grade 2 or below in their English and/or Maths GCSEs are required by law to continue studying Functional Skills Maths and/or English until they achieve a Level 2 qualification.

​

Functional Skills classes take place at Crawley Town FC and are assessed at the end of each academic year.
